What a fun way to see Greenland and Iceland! Add in Nova Scotia, Newfoundland, Scottland and Ireland and a lot of luck for great weather now that's a great trip! We took a Holland America 35-day trip that started and ended in Boston. Our ship, the Zuiderdam is not one of the bigger ships in the fleet, but we found sailing through the north Atlantic to be quite smooth. Certainly, more comfortable than the Viking's boat!
With modern technology and an experienced "Ice Team", we were able to sail near icebergs as big as a house. The Ice team tracks ice movement all around the north seas.
Even though we crossed the Arctic Circle, we didn't see the northern lights. Unfortunately, there is a lot of fog in August. One of these days we will get the timing right.
We get asked if it was very cold. Florida folks wore their puffy coats, but we were quite comfortable with sweatshirt and windbreaker/raincoat.

Greenland
Most of Greenland is ice and rock but the southern tip has a few small villages that are quite nice......in the summer.
